Guus Hoekman (1913-1996)

Guus Hoekman first was a concert singer. His opera debut has place in 1952 at Antwerp. He appeared numerous times at the "Nederlandse Opera" in roles as Don Pasquale, Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Philips II (Don Carlos), Arkel (Pelléas and Mélisande) and still in 1984 as Titurel in (Parsifal). He worked together at the premieres of Kalchas (1959, J.Andriessen), Jean Lévecq (1965, G.Landré). He appeared a.o. at Salzburg and at Glyndebourne and stayed for more as 7 years in the United States. He was also a performer of lieder and he sang in oratorio.
